Pi Beta Phi
Pi Beta Phi was founded on April 28, 1867, at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois. The 12 founders had a vision to form the first national secret society for women at a time when only five state universities admitted women. The founders of Pi Beta Phi created the Fraternity to cultivate sincere friendship, establish real-life objectives and promote happiness.
PIPhi’s symbols are the arrow and the carnation. Its unofficial mascot is the angel. The fraternity colors are wine and silver blue. PiPhi’s philanthropy is literacy, which it supports nationally through a variety of efforts.
